Put the guns away cowboys and lets get back to woodworking. We have had enough drama for one day.
Larry posted this to make the point lets live and let live life is too short man.
Which I did Rob, but then to be accused of being a "Trouble Maker" (I'm the only one who has apologized for my actions)..... well, I am fairly certain that if you were called out like this Rob, you would not sit on your hands, nor should you
Nancy, you clearly thought that your post could be taken as "Political" if that was not an honest assessment, then why the big "Please read this until the end before you call this political" introduction
David, I've been here a while and I have seen on multiple occasions how this kind of post can tear the fabric of the forum asunder, it does no good in the end, no one is going to change their opinion about things because of one post on this forum, all it does is create problems. While you obviously do not see the post that Nancy made as "Political" I and many other did, and when I first came upon the post I found that not only did I consider it political, but the first moderator on the scene, was actually supporting the post being posted, which to me was not only a rules violation by the original poster, but a look the other way attitude by one of our moderators. I'll apologize for hurting feelings, like I said, that was not my intent, and I'll apologize for the extra burden on the mods, but what I'll not apologize for is pointing out a rule violation, OK, let me qualify that, a rule violation, in my opinion, and then a validation of said violation by a moderator. I think it is the responsibility of all the members here, and in our society in general (not just the US) to bring up and point out when we see the rules being broken and the authorities in said society, turning a blind eye, because they happen to agree with the rule breaking.
All of this could have been avoided if we had stuck to the rules of not posting things political, or as they rules clearly state....
"No politics, no religion. If you even think it might be considered political or religious, it is. Please don’t post it."
....but Nancy felt strongly enough about the content of her post to ignore this rule and post it anyways, not only that, when she returned to the scene, by her comments, she was not surprised in any way that the post had caused this much trouble.
I'll then ask a question, if I may, when a member posts something that they know will cause strife and trouble on the board, why is there repercussions to this action?
Nancy, David?
Since you seem to be call me out, I'll at least have the decency of asking you directly, do you have an answer to my question?
My answer is to follow the rules and NOT post this kind of thing in the future, maybe we can learn something from this episode, I'm learning that you have to fight to make sure the rules are followed, and I hold this place dear enough to do so.
If you do not like my take on this subject, tough toe nails, my opinion and point of view is as valid as any other member.
