    finishing jatoba

I'd love to hear about your successes finishing jatoba. I'm working on a fairly small box (think size of a loaf of bread). I was thinking of wiping on BLO/varnish/mineral spirits mixture but I'm unsure whether I should use a pore filler first or not.

If you want to fill the pores, do that before any other finishing processes.

Brush or wipe on 3 or 4 coat of shellac.

Now with something that small this is what I would do. Save the fine sanded dust wood, mix with a clear lacquer sealer to a paste and fill by wiping on with a razor blase.
