Thread: tired of bells so

    tired of bells so

    i decided to make a bowl. It's crotch cherry 8x3 1/2. it just has one coat of blo on at this time but thought i'd post pics any way as all i've doing is bells.

    I like that. I think it is the rim that catches my eye.

    I do like chunky bowls. Look like they are meant to be used and not just decoration. The rim looks like a practical answer to a handle. All in all a good result.

    Well selected piece of Cherry Stephen, much more character than normally seen in Cherry. Not so sure about the robust rim myself but I guess it works better with that busier wood than it would with plain Cherry. As Pete says, form certainly lends itself to being put to good use.

    Thanks all.I did make this bowl thick as i intend to use it not just let it sit on a shelf.Need to get one more coat of blo and then some kind of food safe finish. It's gonna be my popcorn bowl.
