Wood Orientation Question

Ok sorry for my comment. After I posted it I thought to myself that maybe this isn't the time to try and be funny.:(
The wood is beautiful and I could only wish that I had 1% of Mikes talent with wood.

Picture #1 would be the correct way to orientate the grain on that panel. When I drill hinges for doors I attempt to drill every single one so that the up, is up, and the down, is down. Also so pairs have the best matched stiles together. Gets old after fifty plus doors, but it add consistency to bigger projects.
