Hi Everyone,
I have a Record 043 which is a treat to use for small grooves up to 1/4" in not too hard of wood. For harder wood than hard Maple or wider grooves, there are better solutions--larger plows!
The picture below is a visual anithesis to my Record. The Record is in mint condition and just sparkles with all that shiney plating.
This one is purported to be Russian made, though I cannot confirm that the mark is truly that of a known Russian factory. This factory began in the 1700s and up to 1869 was a munitions plant. Sometime there after it began and still was making tools up to 5 years ago and may still be.
While certainly not as pretty, it has a certain rustic charm to me. It came with 3, 4, 5 and 6 mm irons.
Take care, Mike
