This is for feeding peanuts (in the shell) to the freeloading scrub jays and stellar jays that hang around here in the winter. It's 15" tall, 6" dia not counting the perches, made from walnut scraps and Home Depot dowels. You put the peanuts in the hole on top and then slide the cone back down so it hangs centered on the nylon parachute cord. Didn't sand past 120 and just sprayed it with spar varnish.
Sorry about the crappy photos.

l... can I borrow the idea??

Sure, borrow at will. Here's the template my daughter drew for me but I had to resize it to post it here. So if you know how to make this 6" diameter it will give you a pattern for drilling the dowel holes. I use 1/4" dowels and that makes the space about right for the birds to be able to get the peanuts out without them just falling out.

Nice feeder Curt. Those Blue Jays can be cheeky birds when it comes to food Eh!.

I wonder if a squirrel would try and knaw through the bars. Hey then we could call it a jailbird.:rofl:
