....... I was trying to scratch an itch and do some turning, I found this roughed out and dried Oak blank on the shelf........

You can see how much it shrank while drying (Hey Drew, take note!!) look how oval shaped that tenon is :eek:

I tried, I really, really tired........

...... but it was just not going to make it, I should have left it a LOT thicker :doh:

Here I'd still not got the outside near done, and look how thin it was.....

Oh well, can't win them all...... :doh:

I did make a fine mess :D :wave:
 
Stu I don't know do you think this one will warp when it drys? I have rough turned it a bit and had to leave the center in as i was a bit nervous about the chuck holding something as heavy as this It is still pretty wet. When i was finished I took a couple of older dry cylinders to play with and tried out the termite tool. Turned two box's for gifts. What do you think? not as thin walled as your is Stu but Give me time. I am actually looking for some Arbutus to turn as I have seen some real thin plates from our club. Here is a pic of one of them
