Mesquite pieces

Here is a couple of thing I've turned lately. The urn is 11"wide by 9"high. The bowl is 10" wide by 4.5" high. Urn has walnut accents. Sorry only one view of the bowl, the rest were fuzzy. Finished with Antique oil, haven't buffed them yet. Cheers, Barry

Thanks for the kudos, folks. The lid wasn't too hard to make. I cut wedges, (12 @ 15 degrees) out of mesquite on the chop saw, then strips of walnut were placed between and I glued it up into a rough circle. after that it was glued to a scrap round piece for the lathe jaws to grab. I spun it to the desired diameter and slope and made the underside concave,etc. After parting it off the lathe, I used a spindle sander to shape the shallow flutes. I just held each section up to the spindle at the desired angle and let it do its work, then refined with a rasp and sandpaper. Then turned the knob separatly and attached it.
