    first bottle stopper

well, the weather was a bit more cooperative today, almost 20. i decided that it was time to try my hand with one of ruth's kits. it is made of some of the cherry that don orr sent me (with a box of other stuff) a while ago, with one of the new dollar coins inset into the top. i used the back side, as it will cut down on the number of questions as to who it is, as everyone recognizes the statue of liberty...

Nice. Did you do the caliper thing or are bushings involved?

no calipers, no bushings involved. the base of the mandrel is the same size as the top of the stopper. i made the inset for the coin with a coin specific forstner bit from rocklers.

Great looking stopper Dan. Well done. I really like Ruths stopper inserts.

Dan that is really nice! I have never turned a stopper yet, I have a few of them still haven't turned any. That dollar coin really sets it off I think!!

Yes. It is what we use to make a twenty cent purchase.
