Huge wood haul today

Larry, I stopped looking for any lumber on Long Island.
The prices are outrageous and the selection was sometimes poor.
The only guy who had a complete inventory close to me, with moderate-high prices, but a good crew, went out of business.
If I got ash at a good price, well, thats what Im building with.
If I got white oak, thats also what IM building with.

Yep, ash is fine. Don't know why some folks knock it. I believe it is stronger than oak. It is more 'flexy', like hickory.

I have alot of 2.5x12inches by 12 feet and similar sizes of oak.
I believe its white oak.
It takes up too much needed space so if anyone is interested, any family members, shoot me a pm. I dont want anything over the buck a board foot I paid. Fair price for oak. It looks like white oak to me, and I know in these parts rough white oak goes for over 5 bucks a bf.
maybe someone here is thinking of making a new fireplace mantle, maybe an ark to hold some animals, whatever, its some nice pieces of long heavy wood.

Boy I wish you were closer to me. That sure looks like white oak to me.

He just had his guys loading my truck up and I wasnt even paying attention just trying to load and keep it all dry.

Same here. And I have a mantle that needs replacing. (It's OK though...I don't need to be spending the money right for the rest of the project now anyway.)

I always thought him giving me all that 12 inch wide 12/4 oak and all that 8/4 14 inch maple was so generous of him.
I realized today when I had to get the 14 inch wide 8/4 maple, how stinkin heavy it was, that he was dumping it on me because noone wants to have to lift that stuff and work with it.
