And so it begins

I found one selling on ebay that they had at 75lb shipping weight... I sometimes find the best way to get information like that is to check other resources rather than resort to physical exertion ;)

I don't have a scale with a platform big enough.

Well I got the drilling done:thumb:

Ok now on to the next step.
The first pic is of a highly sophisticated and very technical tool I made(yes patten pending:rofl:) For marking the bottom diameter of the mug.
Pic two is of yet another one of those high dollar tools it's for marking the middle and the bottom of the mug. (again patten pending:rofl:)
Pic three marking the middle and the bottom.
pic four the bottom has been cut off and the last core cut out.
Pics five the bottom diameter is being marked
Pic six said mark.
Pic seven once the mark is on I cut the corner off at a 45 to the mark which finishes off the bottom of the mug. Now to go and do this to the rest of the batch.
Pic eight The one on the left you can just make out the core at the bottom. The middle one is the bottom before the core is cut out and the tenon comes off. The one on the right bottom all done.

Ok almost done the next step. So I have been waiting for a bit to cut the last bit of core out of the mug. I couldn't find one ready made so I made the one in the first pick. The mandrel and cutter are off the shelf the barring is also off the shelf just not the woodworking one.
The inside hole was way to big for the mandrel so I had to make a bushing to get it down to size.
Pic two is of yet another jig needed for this operation. It gives a bigger surface for the router to ride on.
Third and fourth pics is of a mug in the jig. In the fourth you can see the last bit of core still in the mug.
The fifth pic is of the core cut out.
The sixth pic is of what you do with the cores.
Seventh pic is of the pile of cored mugs waiting on the next step.

I kinda gave up keeping track of the hours:bang::rofl::rofl:
The last time I did one all by it's self it was 16 hours start to finish.
