Just seen on the news that Hilo was hit first and the hardest Thats the area that Royall lives. He's not very far from there so lets all hope we hear from him soon.

    Tsunami warnings for Hawaii

Hi all, I am located quite a bit inland and at a high enough elevation to have been safe.

We actually got "spared" this time. We didn't get the size waves that were expected. Not as bad as some of the other Pacific islands, that got as much as 6 foot waves. But it was amazing to see the rise and fall of the ocean level in such a short period of time.

I'm happy we came through in good shape.

Thanks much for your concern. I am sure Royall is OK too. He is far enough inland to be safe from this event.

    Aloha, Tony

Glad to hear that nothing bad happened on the islands and that everyone is safe. We were watching the news as we were under warning too but I figured we were so out of the way it wouldn't have hit us as much as the last time a wave came ashore here. Then Port Alberni got hit bad from a wave when a quake hit off Alaska. What truely amazed me the last time we had a warning in the 90's was all the people that went down to the beach to watch the wave come in.
