    Scribe and Punch

Since I got the metal lathe back in March, I've been looking for a project. awhile back there was an article in Shop Notes on making scribes, so I figured that would be a good place to start. Got to use the metal lathe and the wood lathe

The material is hex 5/16" across the flats.

Now, that's got to be the prettiest scribe I ever did see.
And, it's a quality keepsake tool as well.
I probably would just have taken an old screwdriver to the grinder and made sparks. In fact, have more than once.

Now that looks like fun! Very cool looking scribe you've got there thats for sure.

And as a bonus, nobody else has one just like it!

Very very neat Dan I have metal like that waiting in my shop for the fancy to take me. A while back Shopenotes did a article on making a couple of this type of marking knife.

They managed it without the metal lathe though.

I like your idea just for the metal lathe Thats putting the new toy to good use.
    cheers

That is very nice Dan, well done!!

Color green with envy on the metal lathe, that is one tool I'd love to own, but I don't know where I'd put it

Couldnt you tunnel either down or sideways and create an addition to your shop?
