Grinder & Wolverine System

I only had to elevate my eight incher by one inch. Don't recall if that was a trial and error or per the instructions. At the moment, I'l too lazy to dig out the instructions. But, they are online.

Like you Frank I am too lazy to dig out the instructions and i could be wrong with that figure but I looked at the 8 inch and there is no shim block in it. Maybe it was just the specific 6 inch grinder that i had that required that size.

so what you are saying [so many words] that the wolverine is a outboard rest

If, by "outboard rest" you mean not physically attached to the grinder, then yes, it is an outboard rest. It mounts on a shop-made base, and the grinder also mounts on the same base. The pictures Oneway has on their website should answer any questions about how it sits in relation to the grinder.

Instructions and videos are available from that page.

Well somewhere out there in internet land is a video on sharpening with wolverine setup that I thought was done by one of the editors of wood magazine. It is a great vid, thought I saved it or put in in my favorites. Anyway, the guy that demos it is very good. I'm thinking he used a 6" grinder, fact I think he recommended it.

Found it. I thought this was a good video. Seemed to reduce it to the KISS method.
