Well, I've been hankering for a nice little mallet to adjust plane irons and other things without damaging the metal, so I made this the other morning. The handle is cherry, and is oval in cross section. The head is a piece of rosewood that I cut out of a larger block. Should do the job nicely.

Thanks Vaughn. The answer to your question is yes.

I cut the handle blank out as a rectangle, turned the outside curves, then with it on the lathe [not spinning] blended from the flats to the outside curves.

Very nice Ken. :thumb::thumb::thumb:

Been thinking about one of those myself.

Did you drill the hole in the mallet head before or after turning?
