A Bits and Pieces Box.

....I'd like to get into that segmented stuff, any tips? ...

Book more shop time,

I'm afraid I'm very much a beginner at this stuff Stuart, and have an aversion to maxed out segmenting but must admit to some satisfaction in including it in some pieces.

Whatever method you use to cut the angles make sure you can ensure that they are finished exactly true angle wise, and square to one face/end (for ease of assembly).

This is something I am struggling with, I know I can go out and spend bucks on precision saws and mitre gauges but it's not in my psyche to do that.

I currently use a 12" disc sander to finish mating edges of pieces and am sorting out some metal stock that can be dowelled into the worktable at
22.5-15-11.25 deg. (8-12-16 segments) so that I can set and forget.

Life is easier if you prepare the basic stock true and square edged.

Don't use a glue like PVA which can creep as will most easy and ready to use packs. (you can feel the joins after a few days/weeks)

I find These Index Ring Charts Useful for setting up and other bits on the site of interest.

Of course if you want to be awkward and pick some odd segment numbers my Calculator is of help.
