    Walnut Gloat!!!

A friend of a friend heard I was a turner and asked me to make him a bowl and a platter. He said he had a walnut tree that had belonged to his father and the gifts are to be for his dad for Christmas. I went to get the wood today and boy was I shocked!

These are the two big pieces that I worked on today. I got one home and hope to get the rest on Saturday. He said I could have the rest of the wood if I wanted

The girl in the pic is the daughter of a friend.

Pete, where'd you find the miniature Stihl and the midget girl?

That looks like a great haul. looking forward to seeing what you make out of it.

That looks like a really nice little piece of walnut...

I could have posted a miniature version of this gloat, except I forgot to take pictures, so it didn't happen... someone went by my house last week and either threw out a log or lost a log off their truck... it was only about 20 inches long and about 14 diameter, but when I cut it, sure was some nice chocolate inside... the sap wood was beginning to powder, so know the log had been laying around... but no pictures - no happen - right?

My parents taught me to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder to find any.
If you go looking for trouble, it will usually find you.
