I want to run some molding:
What wood is generally the most inexpensive? I have a planer/molder
machine. I will have to order the knives though. I also have a shaper, but pushing the material through is not very appealing to me. Thanks!

Were you planning on painting it or some other type of stain/clear coat?

If you were planning on painting it, poplar is a good choice for wood. MDF also machines well and takes paint nicely. Just make sure to have some kind of dust collection set up if you are using MDF, its dust is bad stuff.

i agree on popular for the most of it and yes in some cases mdf parts are fine. like trim for around a banister or chair rail or a fireplace mantle build up, for some . and the planer molder is the best way to go for the trim i think.. is it a woodmaster tool? if so i have ran those and they work well with enough Dust collection..
