    Smile Curly Maple Vase #2

Curly Maple, 8 5/8" high x 4 1/4" wide x 1/8" thick, sanded to 800 grit and has several coats of wipe-on gloss poly. Will wait for a week or so and then buff it out and apply some Renaissance wax.

Very nice, Steve. It almost looks like the reverse of the hollow form you showed last week.

Thanks for the kind words everyone - I appreciate it!

Back in the beginning of April I roughed out 5 vases out of this chunk of curly maple. I did what I could to make each shape totally different than the previous one. This particular shape was chosen as 'the best' by my wife Colleen. I won't argue the point but I like another one that I hope to be able to finish next week. It is very close to the southwest style vase/hf that you turned Vaughn - if you remember the photos I sent you. Still can not find anything that I like more than that southwestern style!

Thanks again everyone! Hope to have another vase finished for posting in a few days!

    Steve,

I like the shape. It almost reminds me of a seed. It is really organic.
