    ebonized cherry,What it will be?(update)

Working on a desk to replace the one in the living room. The one i have i made 10 plus years ago. Was never gonna be keep this long as it was made out of scrap that i got off a job.Well i finilly get started on that desk.
All right now for the? Being as it will be a green and green inspired, but my own design. What would ya'll use as the dowels (pins) being it's made of cherry and walnut. thinking maple as that will stand out. will aslo be making the pulls out of maple. Here's a few pics of what i got done so far. The dowels are just some cut off pieces i put there for the pic. not drilled yet. I can make cherry and ebonize them, or just use plain old cherry, not sure that's why i would like your help.

You can also use ebony pen blanks to turn the dowels from...no steel wool or vinegar required.

Well had my last day off. go back to work tomorrow. Here are some new pics of what i got done today. Now i remember why i stoped doing flat work. It's spend 3 hrs setting up and 15 min doing the work. here is also a pic of the desk that i got my inspiration from. it woun't be just like it but it will be close. The pic comes from (furnituremaker.com) The one pic is the side panels being veneered with some cherry i got from a friend.

Just incase anybody is interested, i finilly got most of the pieces built this weekend. Still need all the detail on the base but it will get there. this is just a dry fit, so now i'll have to pull it all apart and route and sand, and sand, and sand again. It isn't a large desk, just 22x 29x60. Will up date as i get more done. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome.
