ebonized cherry,What it will be?(update)

Working on a desk to replace the one in the living room. The one i have i made 10 plus years ago. Was never gonna be keep this long as it was made out of scrap that i got off a job.Well i finilly get started on that desk.:)
All right now for the? Being as it will be a green and green inspired, but my own design. What would ya'll use as the dowels (pins) being it's made of cherry and walnut. thinking maple as that will stand out. will aslo be making the pulls out of maple.:dunno: Here's a few pics of what i got done so far. The dowels are just some cut off pieces i put there for the pic. not drilled yet. I can make cherry and ebonize them, or just use plain old cherry, not sure that's why i would like your help.:D:dunno:

Will up date as i get more done. Thanks for looking and all comments welcome.

I missed the cloud lift thingy in the picture of the desk you got the inspiration from, so I was scratching my head trying to figure out why you had that broken rail in the one pic from July 22nd. Now it makes perfect sense, and I think the whole desk (design and wood selection) going to look great. Thanks for the progress pics. :thumb:

Thanks all. It is turning out to be a fun project after all.;) Lots more work than turning a bowl. and slower.:) I have a bad habbit when i build some thing for me to cut corners. Well for this project i'm going with the mind set of it's for a paying customer. never want to cut corners for a paying customer and don't. Need that repeat buisness when ever you can get it.:)

Looking good Steve. I've haven't tried to do any veneering yet. Looks like a difficult task.
The design is great. I'm really interested in seeing you make the drawers :thumb::thumb:
Nice shop too. Lots of workspace

lookun good steve, and she is a payun customer, she has put her time in a long time ago:p that side panel detail is gonna look sharp.. the walnut and your cherry is gonna make nice mix i think.. what did you use for the veneer, cut your own or by some ?

Bob am not gonna do hand cut dove tails as the pic shows.Would like to, but as i stink at them not gonna even try on this piece. Not sure what i'll do yet but i'll come up with something.:D

Larry this is for me not Sher.;) Well i can say that right now as she's not home. As far as the veneer it's some that my sons ex father in law gave me. He's the plant manager of a large woodworking factory. not what i would call a shop as it's 200,000 sq ft, and they have 4 of them. He is a good guy and we still enjoy seeing each other when ever we go to get our grandather. That's where she lives.:)

IMG_1541.jpgIMG_1545.jpgIMG_1568.jpgIMG_1583.jpgAll right I know this is a old thread but as I'm finally about done. And I started it here I'd show some pics. Still need to pick up a few cherry boards to finish the base as I ran out. Also if you don't mind let me know which pulls you think best on this. The factory or the home made.all right I tried this from my phone and the pics were taken from the phone. So as it's been quite a while hope I did this right.:wave:
