New wood stash and drying wood

Dave, I'm not recommending this, and I've never tried it, but there is a lot of info on the net regarding drying pieces of wood in a microwave oven. Almost everyone seems to agree that you should not do it in a traditional oven, but some people have continued success using a microwave.

I found an old Montgomery Ward Microwave at the local thrift shop... don't know the size of the oven, but I can put a 12 x 6 inch bowl in there and have been fairly successful drying wood that way.

You do have to be careful with your settings... I put some pen blanks in there and set the MW too high...then got busy and forgot about the blanks.....it burned the wood from the inside out... I kept smelling smoke in my shop and couldn't find it... anytime I smell smoke I stop and look for it... microwave wood smoke stinks big time.

Dave, Thats a wack of wood! If thats red oak, I bet it was a heavy load!

Lots of good times to be had there!

Lots of tedious milling, then a long wait till its dry, then the fun part.

I miscounted the logs, there are 21 red oak logs, most over 16" in diameter. It was a heavy load, some of the larger logs must have weighed 1800 lb
