I liked how this one turned out, so I decided to try another out of bur oak. I didn't take a pic of the back, but it comes to a small point and is also ebonized on the bottom. The base is from the same piece of rough sawn oak I stole from my dad's wood stash back in KS and the rod is also brass. This one is about 15" tall with the bowl about 8" in diameter. I used the lancelot carver to make the grooves and then cut them back some witht he lathe running. I also once again apologize for the poor cell phone pic.

Comments and critques always welcome!

Thanks for the comments guys. :thumb: I've wanted to do something like this for a long time.

I hope some local people like it too as I have a show this weekend. The show includes me doing woodturning demos on Friday night and Saturday afternoon...should be fun and a learning experience for sure!
