Hey all-
Wanted to start working on a couple of rustic headboards I have been needing to build. Not sure what to do, but I had a crazy idea today at work. Since the days are getting shorter I only had an hour or so of daylight once I got home. After diner I jumped in the old truck and shot down to the south field and pulled this out of the weeds. I sawed up the butt log a couple of years ago. Anyways, just had time to pull a few slabs off before it got dark (8/4). Going to try to mix this with some whitepine and see what it looks like. This maybe one of those crazy ideas that end up in the burn pile. :dunno:

I am not to worried about checking or cracks as they would actually add to the rustic look. I will likely end up finishing with oil and since its going to be a simple headboard attached to a metal frame, the joints will be mostly mechanical (screws). There will be some shrinkage, but not too worried, again rustic. It's for a cabin.
