Thought I post a few pictures of my first turning on my new lathe. Not much but really fun.

First is a candle holder out of soapstone and cocobolo:

Next is a little ring box for my wife. Made from an English Walnut tree I cut down a few years ago:

And a bell out of english walnut and blackwood:

I want to get better at the bell making. I'd like to make some pretty ones for the Christmas tree. I need more practice.

I really like the candle holder:thumb::thumb:. I made a spindle out of my soapstone today:rofl:!!...future bottle stopper:rolleyes:;)
Nice job of keeping the grain lines on the box!

Looks like the Delta is working just fine, Paul. I really like the candle holder. :thumb:

We need to get Curt Fuller to post pics of some of his bells. He's got the touch when it comes to bells and ornaments. ;)

Nice looking pieces. What do you use to do your finish after final sanding?

I used wipe on poly on the candle holder base and three days later it was still tacky to touch so I turned it off and used BLO, hand rubbed. Buffed when dry and than Ren. Wax

The box is Mylands Sanding sealer and buffed than Ren Wax.

The bell is sprayed on Deft Clear Wood Finish about 4 coats and Res wax ( I have a big can of Renaissance Wax so I put it on everything). Ya, I know clear shoe polish...
