I got a big pile of tools from an auction, I really only wanted one item, but that is how it goes sometimes :dunno:

I have two tools (?) that I am not sure what they are, so they are "Whats Its"

Here is the "Red" one....

It is obviously some sort of a clamp or a press, but for what, I do not know

There is no "Right" answer here, that is unless you do know for sure what it is, but all comments and guess are welcome :thumb:

One other thing, the bottom is not flat, where it would rest on a table or bench, it is flat or straight along it's length, but it rocks from side to side.

Cheers!

It's a star press, used extensively in the star pressing industry back in the '30s and '40s. The advent of the jet engine and freeze dried coffee spelled the death knell to the old time star pressers. Alas, it's a lost art nowadays, practiced only by a few re-enactors in mock Quaker villages.

I hope that helps clear things up. :D
