I don't know if anyone is interested but here we go.

Here's a star I drew this morning in SketchUp. It is 3D and the back looks the same as the front. Who knows? Maybe this is the back. Anyway the skins are stretched over lines and nothing is flat.

I think I got close...

I know...edge points are on again and too many points on the star....

Inside out?

  1. I drew a circle, and divided it into 5 parts.
  2. I then drew lines from the edges of the 5 parts to the center of the circle.
  3. Next drew arcs between the outer endpoints on the circle and removed the outward curves of the circle
  4. Using the move tool and holding Alt I pulled out the center endpoint from the circle.
  5. Made my object a component and copied it.
  6. I inverted the copy using scale to -1 and pieced the two together.

Probably not even close to what you did, but it's what I came up with. ;)

That's pretty good. Not quite what I did and the result is a bit different but I like how you approached it. I mentioned that I need to make views from other points of view. One thing you can't see in mine is that the surface is rounded over in the area between the points. I'll let you stew on that and as soon as I get a few minutes, I'll show how I did it.
