    NYT Crossword

I printed off an old crossword from the New York Times, and one of the clues is "a wood marking tool".

It's 7 letters, and some of the letters I have.

    S blank blank blank blank E R

    Any ideas what it is?

Look at the answers. They are generally upside down beside any NYT crossword I've seen.

It feels even greater to give one to a friend!

Mack, you're not supposed to look at the answers until you finish...

I think Vaughn got it. I don't think Will Shortz is a woodworker, because the woodworking clues just about always leave me befuddled, but maybe I think of too many odd tools, and miss things like hammers.
