Not at that price! Of course I am a bottom feeder.![]()
God grant me the senility to forget the people I never liked anyway,
the good fortune to run into the ones I do,

I know nothing of the value...just posted for those who might have interest/knowledge of it. Now if it had a motor......![]()

Well, it could be collectible and I don't know it. But that seems outrageous to me. Maybe someone that knows will chime in.

I don't know what could make a 70's Record bench plane collectable. I can imagine it going for half of that since it's cherry and with the box, though. Iron jointers are scarcer that the smaller bench planes. I bought a user grade Stanley not long ago for about US$ 65, plus shipping.
Not worth it unless you're completing your Record plane collection, IMO.
All the best,

I have a Record 7C, and it is a nice plane. But the price being asked is certainly way above market value. I've seen similar [not NIB though] go on the bay for around $90 or so.

Thats a tad high I'd say. I don't see any gold plating anywhere.![]()
Nice and clean though.

Hi there.
I agree with you all, that price is completely outrageous for that plane.
One can get similar ones at Ebay for more reasonable price.
Another issue if these planes are regarded as collectable or higly collectable as as Stanley Bedrocks 602 because their scarcity.
I've purchased and restored several vintage planes at Ebay, some are good ones ( as a tool) other are just mid range planes. If I was looking for a plane to be used, I could get a brand new Lie-Nielsen or Clifton for a few more bucks, that for sure are far better than record one.
My five cents.
Best regards,
Toni
