I'm sorry, I'm gittin' oldish an don't see things as straight as I useta. I'm gonna guess that the inside is causing troubles. I have always told my students not to use a spindle gouge on the inside of a bowl, even though some well known turners say otherwise. The thing they don't tell is that they do not use a standard grind. If you can do spindle work, working the outside of a bowl is very similar. If you don't have one yet, try grinding one of your bowl gouges in an Elsworth or Irish grind. It is much more forgiving.
