    Will this work for a vacuum Chuck??

    Saw this on CL, is this the kind of vacuum pump needed for a vacuum chuck?? and is the price in the ballpark??

    Need more info. How is it lubed? Is it piston or diaphragm? Either will work just fine. Price is good.

    I use my shop vac for my vacuum source.

    I can't say about a vac chuck, since I'm not a turner, but if it'll evac an AC system that means it'll pull about 25+ inches of Mercury for a vaccuum. It'd be very useful for vaccuum bagging/veneering/bentwood glue-ups, etc.

    I'm guessing it'd work for a chuck - but that IS just a guess.

    If it works for a bag, it will work for a chuck. The only difference is the type of vacuum chamber you have created. There is no different demand on the pump.

    I have built numerous vacuum systems, as I once taught a vacuum clamping class (for 4 years). My students each built their own system and then applied it to many and varied applications, including turning.
