Tail Stock Repair

The other day I noticed that when I put the handle down on my tailstock that the handle traveled farther than it should. So i took it off and flipped it over and saw that the weld had started to break.
I had a local shop reweld it ($10.00) and it works fine again. The pictures below show the tailstock after being rewelded. At the same time I cleaned it up ............................

That looks like a well used lathe. Well used tools are loved tools. :thumb:
Anything mechanical, stuff happens.
Yes, methinks that locking lug area gets a lot of stress when the handle is pushed down to lock. You should get another 20 years from that repair. ;)
 
thanks........pics 2,4,5, are about as good of shots I could get with my old camera.....................and im hoping it holds up ....had it welded better than what is was so im hoping so now...............
