Micro Turning

Cool stuff. John Lucas over on the AAW forums has shown some really teeny work. He uses a microscope to see with, and sharpened guitar strings for tools. Notice the little black goblet in the glass on the right side of this photo. He said it was too small to pick up with his fingers.

I went to see one of johns demos. He had what i can only guess was that same box with them mini goblets. They really are tiny, and he asked that you don't open that box up, as if they fall out you will never find them again.:)
Steve.
PS. found a pic of John doing his demo at Jackson.:D

I stopped by to visit with John on my trip back east last summer. He is an amazing guy. I don't think there is anything he wouldn't give a try.

Sadly, I read not long ago, one of his miniatures had escaped its box. He didn't know how it happened, so he said he'd get busy and make more.

Wouldn't surprise me if he held the world's record for small!

John is a regular on WoodCentral and I first met him at an IndyFest a few years ago. He is a professional photographer in his day job, so he also offers tips on getting great pictures of your turnings.

He is a guy like our Toni - generous, knowledgeable, and downright fun to know.
