This is sort of a segmented piece. It's actually only 5 pieces of wood but cut and glued back together 4 times. The goblet is canarywood and the rings or celtic knot are koa. It's 6.5" tall by 1.75 " diameter. Finished with deft over danish oil.

just one goblet, a couple views.

Look!
Up in the sky!
It's a bird!
It's a plane!
No, it's...

Goblet Man! (We really should get you a cape and a mask, Curt.)

I really like the Celtic knot idea, and your execution is great. My borther-in-law is very into all things Celtic and Viking. I may have to try making him a bowl with a knot in it.

You continue to impress Curt!

What kind of finish do you use on these?

Are the goblets just for show, or can they be used for drink, and if they can, are alcoholic drinks fine?

I would think the alcohol in some drinks could attack certain finishes, rendering them poor choices for these types of turnings.........?

A good poly would be safe, would it not?

VERY nice, I'd LOVE to see a tutorial on something like that.....Hint Hint..... :D

Cheers!

Thanks everyone. I'm working on another one and trying to take a couple pictures as I go. I'll post them when I get it done. It's much more simple than it looks like is should be.
