gas cans

With the weather threatening again the other day, I decided to add one more can of gasoline to my arsenal for the generator. I have five 7 1/2 gal. plastic jerry cans on hand now, plus the generator is full. (it runs 8 hours on one fill, 5 gal, I think.) Went to Wally World and found they are out. I wasn't the only one with the same idea. Talked to someone who said the local Lowe's had sold 200 generators that day. I wasn't the only one in a mini-panic. I got concerned when I talked to a friend who said he was without electric service for six weeks during the 2009 ice storm. I was without for six days. Hard to judge how much to keep on hand. And, yes, I do put stabilizer in it and only use non-ethanol gas.
