    New to this confab

Just an introduction. Some character goes by the name 'O Steve Ash put in a good word for you folks with supported verbiage from Larry Merlau. Nice to see some people here that I haven't talked to for a while. I'm Paul Downes from the mid-Michigan area and have been messin around with wood in the creative sense for about 5 yrs. now. Prior to that I spent some time doing deforestation in my neighborhood and also in the yooper land. I'm in the process of tring to actualy make money at woodworking, but seem to spend more on tools and will readily admit to being addicted to 'wood porn'. (which tends to be expensive). I am a diemaker by training and have 11 kids, 1 wife, and a mortgage, 3 dogs, cats(# varies)are tolerated because they kill mice and rats, and live in a rual area. I spend 80-90% of my time on the lathe, which, when I set up my shop was purchased as a 'toy'. My shop is in my pole barn 18' x 32' and is heated with the outdoor wood stove that also heats the house. (somewhat). Guess that's enough boring detail for now........Looks like a nice place here.

Welcome to the clubhouse, Paul. We can always use more turners. And we won't hold your association with Steve and Larry against you. For now.

    We'll be watching you, though.

Seriously, good to have you here.

Hi Paul and welcome! I feel funny saying that since I'm new here myself but hey... it feels like home already. Thanks for the intro - that's quite a crew you've got up there. Cheers.

    Welcome Paul!

    Another spinner of wood!

Man, with 11 kids, how did you find the time for a job

    Cheers!

I guess we know what Pauls hobby was before woodworking.....

Great to have you here Paul, you'll make a nice addition.

Now show off those turnings in the Lathe Gallery.
