Thread: Red Bud HF

    Red Bud HF

This one is 4-1/2" dia. and 10-1/2"tall to finial tip. This stuff shows some interesting grain when turned centered with the pith. I drilled out the pith and plugged it, but still got some cracks. They were filled with CA and smoothed out. Gloss WOP finish and buffed. The finial is made of holly...I think. It's been a while and I'm not sure. If it's not holly, then maybe white pear...I should start writing these things down. Comments and/or critique is always welcome.

    Did you dye the finial?

What tools did you use to carve the finial?

    Beautiful wood and nicely turned.

    WOW!
    Great looking Red Bud HF.
I really like the contrasting finial.
    Well done.

I used a drill bit, carbide burrs in a Dremel, rasps, and cloth backed sanding strips. and yes, the finial was dyed. Thanks for the comments.

That is really pretty. Red Bud, thought I was going to see a Budweiser can with a finial glued to the top! The finial is a great piece of work and I know they are not easy, I made a candle holder that way ONCE, too much work.

Great looking HF. The transition from the HF to the finial is perfect. Certainly one to be very proud of.
