I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that adding a bit of BLO to the last coat of shellac slowed the drying and helped with brushing an even coat on. I thought that I read it in Woodsmith, but I can't seem to find it. Has anybody heard of this or am I dreaming?

Rex I have never heard of this and do not see a reason for doing so. Iwould just make sure the last coat of shelled is banded well with 320 and the do a 50/50 mix for 3 coats and then a 75/25 for 2 or 3 coats and then 2 full coats. Standing between coats with 320 to get the best results.Make sure each coat is a thin shear coat and not to over load the brush.
I dream a lot. I do more painting when I'm not painting. It's in the subconscious.
