spalted maple vase

All right i don't think i have shown this one. I had the tent set up for the box swap, so i thought i'd take a few pics of this. it's 6 3/4x 4 1/4 finish multi coats lacquar knocked down with steel wool and waxed and buffed.The wife says she is keeping this one.

I agree with your wife, Steve. That's very nice work. :thumb: The form on the vessel is pretty much textbook perfect. :clap:
 
Nope your wife has it all wrong. The best thing for you to do is ship that to NH for proper display.:thumb::thumb::thumb:

Well thanks all.She wants me to make her a bud vase now.:doh: So i guess i'll be out in the shop all day working on the lathe.:rolleyes::rofl::rofl::rofl: :wave:. Ofcorse i also got this really nice big chunk of Mesquite yesterday in the mail.:thumb:. It came from Calf. so i bet you can guess who sent it. Thanks again man. Well i can't turn anything sitting her so i'm out of here and heading to the shop.:)
O the pic is that really nice piece of Mesquite.

Stephen, that vase is just about as nice as anything I've seen. The shape is perfect. I also liked the little "step" at the neck line. That really added something to it for me. Your work keeps me inspired. Seeing work like yours is why I bought a lathe. I have a lot to learn. Thanks for sharing this one. :thumb::thumb::thumb:
