Noi Pickup No Problem

Don't want you to think I was ignoring you, hadn't gotten out to the garage to take more pics.

Here is a shot of "the bracket" that hooks under the roof rack bars

And here is a shot of the block of wood that fits between the bracket and the 2x4. The open mouth of the bracket faces forward since I thought the biggest risk to this whole idea was what might happen if I slammed on the breaks. The bracket is screwed and construction adhesive glued to the 2x4.

View attachment 5227 When I slide the block into the bracket I then secure it with a couple of drywall screws.

Yeah, I understand that it is a bit risky, but I think it is a WHOLE lot safer than my prior practice of tying sheets of ply to the roof rack.

Thanks Jay...makes more sense now that I see the pieces on their own.

And Bill...I was wondering how long it'd take for someone to post that picture. :D

Those do look like good brackets. But pressure from wind can be incredible. I will still keep speed no more than 30 mph. I'll be holding my breath for you. ;)
BTW, with limited room at home there is always the rental mini-storage solution.
