I did not purchase them for use. I want to build a small display case in my shop for my own pleasure and put any old tool I can find for under 5 dollars, including those old stainless steel electric tools I find at garage sales.
Im hesitant to spend anything more than 5 dollars for anything old, since old doesnt mean anything to me except its been around a long time. I love people who try to convince me its vintage stuff.
I didnt think it was worth it today, getting 9 planes for 75 dollars, but my wife wanted me to get out of the house and demanded I go get them because I just liked the way they looked.(there are some cool shaped blades)
I put a piece of paper in front of any plane where I found markings, manufacturer, numbers, I really dont know much about hand planes.(no suprise to anyone here)
I dont think I got a bad deal, the guy through(Im losing it, he threw, not through) in the 3 metal planes, so I ended up with a dozen planes.
Anyone who knows something about planes, please tell me I didnt pay 45 dollars too much for them.
I appreciate any help, I dont want to look all over the internet because what something is worth in someones mind is alot different than what its worth in the real world.
I pmed ken last night to ask him if it was worth it, or should I stay away, forgot I could have sent a pm to Jim, but the wife insisted I get out of the house today, so I took the drive.
(all 3 of the big wood planes were marked Mathieson and sons, but one had a different marking on the blade)
