Bob pick her up today and was very pleased. I told him I would like to borrow her next turkey season.
Bob told me he found this is the back of an old barn in France. Maybe I need to go do some American Picking over their.

I'm glad he is happy with it.
From the pics, I believe it has military origins rather than sporting or "fowler" intents. That is a very large, meaning slow but reliable, lock. A sporter would be smaller and faster. However, the wood ramrod is a puzzler. A military gun usually has a steel rod. Butt end looks military.
Doesn't matter, if he is happpy, that's wat counts.
I have a friend in England who picks up old guns all the time and restores them. Apparently there are still many-many kicking around the Old World side of the pond.
 
Frank it's a Medal Ram Rod, and it was manufactured for military use from what we read about it and the company that made these guns from 1718 to 1830 something. So your right on :thumb:
