I got my daughter a laptop in the fall as she was heading to high school.

It came with Windows 7 and NO EMAIL CLIENT, only the LAME Windows Live Mail. It worked for a while and then it decided you need a WINDOWS Live ID, otherwise it wouldn't send emails.

I said FORGET It and installed Mozilla Thunderbird. That was easy. It took me an hour to figure out how to export the emails and contacts so that I could import them. They DON'T MAKE IT EASY.

I just needed to vent . . . I'll be fine shortly.

I have migrated 6 or 7 computers over the years and never had the level of OBFUSCATION that MS has recently come up with in their tools.

I'd go to Mac but can't afford it right now.

Back to our regularly scheduled programming . . . .

Cheers

Jim

Jim, load Moz backup. It is easy to back up Thunderbird and FireFox. Makes recovering settings and address books very easy. Is there a difference from the Win 7 in a laptop as compared to the same program in a desktop? I found most of what I needed to put into my Win 7 Pro desktop very easy to accomplish. Yes there were some issues, but most was ok. Getting esata to work, that's a whole 'nuther issue. :dunno::huh::doh: Jim.
