Finished up another project that has been sitting for a couple weeks out in the garage today. The wood is Walnut and it was pretty dried out when I turned it - required a bit of sanding and I sanded to 800 grit and applied 3 coats of Waterlox over several days - let stand for a couple weeks and today finished it with Shellawax EEE and wax............
Not sure why the top looks dusty but its the dang camera...................

That's sure some pretty wood, Dan, and you did a great job with it. It sure seems light-colored for walnut. Is it mostly sapwood?

Thanks to everybody and Vaughn I think your right about it being part or mostly of the sap.........Im going to make a finial for it and ill post the picture when im done...............

I was showing the results of the EEE and Shellawax which im starting to use more now that I understand the application. The instructions from Robetson have made the application better for me as I was probably making the same mistakes alot of turners do when using it....................
That said you still have to fill open grain woods though before using.
