Ah, I'm starting to feel it now Dan. The tri-lam stretcher does wonders for the look. The Blacker House leg treatment is a favorite of mine too. Thanks for taking us along for the ride.

even with the heavy downpours today, i still managed to get work done on the table. hopefully i will be able to get to the sanding and oiling tomorrow. today i tried to rout the detail on the aprons, but right off the bat, ran into trouble with the first one. for some reason, the template didn't move, but the workpiece did. so i said, heck with it, looks good without the detail, and kept going. went to rout the rule joints on the top parts, and could not find my bits, and wound up going to rockler for replacements. the joints worked out nicely, not going to argue with what works. then i marked the center for the base on the top. then moved on to the curves for the leaves. that worked out rather nicely. then started to rout the mortises for the hinges, and got 2 of them done, and ran out of energy. i have also laid out the locations for the leaf supports, and will cut those out of the long aprons tomorrow, along with making the guides for them.

I think she is going to turn out pretty nice Dan. Can't wait to see the final outcome.

dano i think you need to use some double side tape to anchor your piece in the jig or some sand paer on the jig then finish the step detail it will add more to tyour look in my opinion.. it doesnt look as finished without it..

first of all, i'd like to thank the ambassador. yer idea werkt jes fine ol son!

well, here it is, day 4 of 4 off, time to get serious. first thing i did was to rout the missing detail work on the aprons and leaves. i'm going to have to remember this double sided tape idea for next time. after that, i got on to routing the insets for the hinges, and installing the hinges. surprisingly enough, everything went ok, no binding or other problems. then i went on to chamfer the bottoms of the legs, cut the notches for the leaf supports, and the leaf support guides. by the time i finished all this, it was too late to get any sanding done. at least i have all of the parts cut. tomorrow i'm going to give the forest products supply folks a call, to see if i can run the top through the big sander. now for the pics....

Looking very good Dan. I would like to be able to do that drop leaf joint. But i had all i can stand for the moment in moving tops.

I really like the step feature. I would have put it all the way round the underside rather than the curve. Gives it a Southwestern look i think.

Whats the weight like on that table Dan.
