Even if they don't make the entry-way I'm sure they'll come into good use. I have a friend who had this idea once to collect old pallets and make adirondack chairs out of them. He was gonna call them "pallet-rondack" chairs. You could do something like that and give a whole new meaning to the term "deck-chair". :)
 
Actually. I think Alan Bienlein is onto something there. After you plain the boards down and clean them up to be uniform. Distress them, add some holes, digs, chain marks etc, run them through a fine wire brush and stuff. The nail holes will go away at that point. Then put your finish on them.
You might want to t&g or shiplap them as well. I realize they are only 3-1/2 wide so t&g would probably be better.

Another thought. Albeit a bit busier. If you are going to run them vertically you will need to put blocking in your walls. Why not use some good old Tremont cut nails?
