..........punishing hot out today.
Both my outside electronic thermometers are registering 111 degrees. One on east and one on west sides of house and both in shade.
Clearly dangerously hot out for anyone.

All I know is that for the first time this summer the dirt was even to hot to walk on! The first time I ever saw 100 degrees in the shop and it's to late today to turn the a/c on in there.

One of those tropical storms is looking real good right know!

Oh and I forgot to mention that it's been so hot lately that you can smell the interior plastic parts in my car when I get in it for the 1 hour and fifteen minute drive home with no a/c. Makes for a long drive.

Been in the high 80's low 90's for a few weeks. Finally got some rain and of course the zucchini plants started producing all at once. Sick of eating it already. :D

Headed for the yooper land next week. temps are scheduled to be in the mid to high 70's bummer.:D:D expect the trout fishing to be very good.

Highest I saw today here was 102º, which was downright pleasant compared to what you're seeing, Frank. That's just crazy hot. You should consider moving to Phoenix for the cooler weather.

The mom and pop weather centers I watch during the day showed us about 108-109. We were above 100 before noon!!! There are 2 stations in Granbury, south of Fort Worth, that showed 116 and 119. I'm guessing their thermometers were in the sun. We have hit 100 or higher now 33 days in a row, and no end in sight. The record is 42 set in 1980. There are T-shirts that say "I lived through the 1980 heatwave" or something like that. Lived through it, but was too hot to buy the T-shirt.:rofl: Most weather casters think we have a good chance to tie or break the 1980 record. I know 100s are forecast through Monday or Tuesday next week, and should just about do it. Sure glad I get to get out of the heat after 5 to 10 minutes in it. Jim.

Wow Frank i aint see heat like that since i was a youngster in the military. Back in Northern Zululand you could have your shirt look like you just hauled it out of a tub of water by simply standing in the shade.

We had 84 F here today and i thought it was bad with humidity around 55 thru 58%

Stay cool and safe. No reenactments in this heat.;)

Our heat and humidity finally broke last night...the humidity is all but gone and the high should be in the mid 80s for the next week at least. I need to get out in the shop as much as I can cuz I know it won't last to long.

What we are experiencing is a record for the past 77 years.

not bad here near the beach in Edgewater.......90 degrees no humidity.....nice ocean breeze too. Y'all up north are baking up there

It's so hot in that...

• the birds have to use potholders to pull worms out of the ground.

• the potatoes cook underground, and all you have to do to have lunch is to pull one out and add butter, salt and pepper.

• farmers are feeding their chickens crushed ice to keep them from laying hard-boiled eggs.

• the cows are giving evaporated milk.

• the trees are whistling for the dogs.

• you no longer associate bridges (or rivers) with water.

• you can say 113 degrees without fainting.

• you eat hot chilies to cool your mouth off.

• you can make instant sun tea.

• you learn that a seat belt makes a pretty good branding iron.

• the temperature drops below 95, you feel a bit chilly.

•you've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.

•you would give anything to be able to splash cold water on your face.

•you can attend any function wearing shorts and a tank top.

•The 4 seasons are: tolerable, hot, really hot, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!

• you discover that in July, it takes only 2 fingers to drive your car.

• you discover that you can get a sunburn through your car window.

• you notice the best parking place is determined by shade instead of distance.

• hot water now comes out of both taps.

• it's noon in July, kids are on summer vacation, and not one person is out on
the streets.

• you actually burn your hand opening the car door.

• you break a sweat the instant you step outside at 7:30 a.m. before work.

• no one would dream of putting vinyl upholstery in a car or not having air conditioning.

• your biggest bicycle wreck fear is, "What if I get knocked out and end up lying on the pavement and cook to death?"

• you realize that asphalt has a liquid state.

• a sad Arizonan once prayed, "I wish it would rain - not so much for me, cuz I've seen it -- but for my 7-year-old."
