if you have a building with the ridge runing east to west, what corner has the best light naturally? figuring average time from am to pm? looking for the best light in a finishing room and work area. thanks

If you want to have consistent light throughout the day, you can do what painters have done for centuries and put your windows facing the north sky.

North light is diffuse and indirect. It won't cast strong shadows and the colour temperature (warmth/coolness) doesn't vary much outside of twilight hours. It's great for accurately selecting or matching colours.

Windows high on the wall or even extending to the adjoining roof give the maximum effect. Then you can put on your beret and do some real artistic finishing work ;)

Just to add 2 cents worth. (not that it is worth 2 cents) There are those sky lights that are made with reflecting tubes. They have a collector on the roof that is dome shaped and all the light is reflected down the shaft. They can be tall enough to be above the snow line for all you poor saps that have snow.  That way ALL day you will have natural light streaming in.

Hey! I resemble that remark !! I don't know what plagues you there in Sacramento, but I hope you get double this year.

I know - you're plagued by ex-Silicon Valley types buzzed out on Starbucks coffee. Well, I hope your sister marries one :wave:

Sitting and listening to the wind blowing the snow around...
