Cherry vase

Cherry vase with a mahogany ring 10insx5ins it has a wax finish. It was turned wet and left to dry in the house, several cracks have appeared since it has been indoors and... after the photo was taken:eek: but these will be filled and it will be refinished....o well every day's a school day:D

Very nice, John. The cherry in this piece is lighter than most of the cherry I've seen on this side of the pond.

Vaughn the wood is from the cherry blossom(don't know which one) and not a fruit tree I don't know if this would make a difference:dunno:. It's nice to turn but warps quite when drying:eek::):)
 
Nice shape and contrasting woods John. I think that you will find that the cherry blossom is a fruit wood,( genus Prunus) in the same family as plums, cherries, peaches, apricots and almonds. I found that even though I sealed up the ends of the chunks I had for turning they still cracked.
