Cedar Slab Table

I've had this slab from a cedar stump for about 3yrs now. I knew the shape would work great for a table, but it got burried in the wood pile. A friend was over a few weeks ago looking at some bowls to pick out a gift for her friend that was coming to town. She saw the cedar slab and said, "I want that! Can you make a table out of it for me?" I was happy to oblige! :)

The first pic is what the slab looked like after some belt sanding. Steel tubing for legs, ebonized oak for feet and cold rolled steal for strechers. The top is finished with 10 coats of my home brew danish oil. Its just over 2ft at its widest and just above 17" tall (I shot for 17" and came close ) My wife delivered the table this morning as the recipient is a co-worker of hers. She said she loved it...a happy customer/friend makes me happy too! :D

Thanks guys! :thumb:

Jonathan, I'd love to have a sand blaster...could do tons with it, but I don't so sanding works for me. :)

Thanks Gary! :thumb:

The recipient's husband called last night and said, "Jeff we stole this table from you." Maybe I should raise my prices a bit.:rofl:
